News and notes for this week

A few items of news and note for this week:

  • Window cleaning will continue for a few more days this week. Expect to see cleaners outside your windows at any time.

  • Taco Tuesday with Comcast: On Tuesday, November 3 from 5-8 p.m., a local Comcast Xfinity representative will be on hand to meet with residents. The representative can answer questions and/or review your account. Tacos will be provided in the Club Room (adjacent to the Community Room) and residents may enter to win a gourmet food basket valued at $100.

  • The Book Club will meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, November 5 in the community room. The book for discussion this month is Caleb's Crossing, by Geraldine Brooks. Do come whether you've completed the book or not. Wine and snacks are also on the agenda; feel free to bring something to share if you like.

  • Food drive continues: Large donation boxes have been placed in the Esplanade lobby, labeled “Food Connection.” The food will be donated to the "Food Connection" at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, which serves hundreds of hungry families each week. Lists of the non-perishable foods that are in most need will be posted around the building. The food drive will last from November 1- November 20.

  • Information on proposed methanol plant: A $3.4 billion gas-to-methanol plant has been proposed at the Port of Tacoma. Citizens for a Healthy Bay, an environmental organization, is seeking to keep downtown residents involved and informed regarding this proposed plant.
