News and notes for this week

A few items of news and note for this week:

  • Tahoma to Tacoma: There will be a public meeting on Thursday, March 24 at 6 p.m. to hear about a potential connected trail system from Mt. Rainier to Point Defiance Park. The meeting will include updates on local trail projects an opportunity for local residents to find out how they can help make this trail network a reality. The meeting is sponsored by the Puyallup Watershed InitiativeThe meeting will be held at the Historic Tacoma Post Office at 1102 A Street, a.k.a. "Courthouse Square."  Incidentally, if you have not heard of or seen the plans to transform the front of the post office building into more of a pedestrian mall, with dining, shops and patios, you can see their plans HERE and HERE. (Editorial comment: this is another project that falls into the "I'll believe it when I see it" category.)
  • RSVP for the wine-tasting event: A wine-tasting event, sponsored by the Esplanade Social Committee and Black Door Wine Company, will be held on April 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room. The cost is $10, which can be applied to a purchase. Bring your own glass an an appetizer. Please RSVP at SallieNHerb85@comcast.net.

  • Looking for a volunteer librarian: There are stacks of books in the Club Room that were previously located on a "book exchange shelf" in the Community Room. The HOA board would very much appreciate any resident who would be willing to serve as a "volunteer librarian," to manage this book exchange shelf. This would involve keeping the shelf tidy, and periodically purging the shelf of unused books. A librarian might also manage a magazine exchange, a board-game checkout, etc. in the Club Room or another location on the first floor. Anyone interested in serving as librarian, please contact Karen DeGraw.
