News and notes for this week

A few items of news and note for this week:

  • Board meeting this Thursday: The HOA board will meet on Thursday, April 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the community room. There will be committee reports, budget updates, and time for resident questions. To see an unofficial summary of the last meeting click HERE.

  • Book Club also this Thursday: The book club will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 14 in the community room. The book for discussion this month is Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher, by Timothy Egan. Do come whether you've completed the book or not. Wine and snacks are also on the agenda; feel free to bring something to share if you like. The books for the next four months are:
    • May:  Paula McLain, Circling the Sun
    • June:  David Mitchell, Slade House
    • July:  Paul Theroux, Deep South
    • August:  Gabrielle Zevin, The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry

  • CHB Dinner and Auction this Friday: The Cheers to a Healthy Bay Dinner and Auction will take place on the evening of April 16, at the Foss Waterway Seaport. Enjoy happy hour with oysters from Taylor Shellfish, dinner served by Pacific Grill, and the famous dessert dash. Auction items include trips to Costa Rica, New York, Bali/Italy, a Kentucky Bourbon Trail adventure, King's Expedition paddle boards, and fishing trips. The event is sponsored by Citizens for a Healthy Bay, and helps to support and celebrate the cleanup, restoration, and protection of Commencement Bay.   • Daffodil Marine Parade this Saturday: Sometime between noon and 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, expect to see a flotilla of decorated boats on the Foss Waterway. The Tacoma Yacht Club parade hosts the Daffodil Royalty, plus dozens of other yachts and marine vessels.

    • Dryer vent cleaning next week: Workers will need access to every unit next week to clean dryer vents. The following are the days that the workers will be on each floor; there is not a specific time they will be in each unit. They will work from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Please make arrangements for someone to be home or leave a key with the building manager.  Make sure your dryer is easily accessible; remove everything on, in or near your dryer. 
      • Tuesday, April 19th  floors 2 and 3
      • Wednesday April 20th  floors 4 and 5
      • Thursday April 21st floors 6 and 7
      • Friday April 22nd floor 8
      • Friday April 22nd floor 9 will be done from the roof, no access needed.
