Update on two neighborhood construction projects

Thanks to a helpful reader of this blog, who sent in a photo and a link for the new Amtrak station being constructed at Freighthouse Square. The new station will provide much easier train access for downtown Tacoma residents. Our reader (who has some inside information) believes crews are finishing demolition this week and should start construction of the new station next week. Here's a view of the work in progress:

Meanwhile, Esplanade residents have undoubtedly noticed that two days ago, work began on the next segment of the Prairie Line Trail, on Hood Street between the Art Museum and the Children's Museum:
