Dining and drinking review: Little India Express

Looking for something different for lunch or dinner this weekend? Our own Kurt Kwon went searching through the nooks and crannies of Freighthouse Square this week, and found this ethnic gem for dine-in or takeout. Incidentally, we recently heard that Freighthouse Square is being renamed "Freighthouse Station Marketplace," which makes a lot of sense. Perhaps we are about to witness a renaissance for that area of downtown, with the new name, the new Amtrak station coming, and the new charter high school opening in the fall.

Review by Kurt Kwon

Little India Express is located in Freighthouse Square, at 430 E 25th St.

Good Indian food in a food court setting? Surprisingly yes! Don't let the faded out menu board with bland-looking photos fool you. It is worth the stop to order up spicy and flavorful Indian dishes. Chicken tikka masala is the standard for me to measure all Indian restaurants, and this one did not disappoint. I tried it with 4 out of 5 stars and it had just the right amount of heat. The chicken tastes fresh and the sauce creamy. Add some fresh-baked garlic naan, and you have a great meal.

Stop by Freighthouse Square for quick, but really good Indian food. Probably best for take-out since the seating atmosphere isn't great.
