In case you missed it...
Just 48 hours after the UW Tacoma sponsored a forum on the dangers of the oil trains that run past The Esplanade, a train derailed just down the street. On Thursday evening, seven train cars (empty ones) jumped the tracks, and five of them toppled over on their sides, just south of The Henry apartments and immediately across the street from the head of the Foss Waterway. One can only imagine the damage if these had been oil-carrying cars. See photos and more HERE.

I looked for more info about this in Friday's TNT and found no mention of the derailment at all in the digital replica edition I subscribe to. I wonder why the incident was not given more publicity given the potential dangers if the cars had been carrying something flammable or toxic?
