News and notes for this week

Several items of news and note for this week:

  • Building materials still for sale: The Esplanade HOA has purchased the remaining materials used in the construction of this building. There is granite, slate tile, furnace covers, mirrors, extra cabinets etc. Click HERE to see the list of available items, and contact Building Manager Karen DeGraw to purchase.

  • Want the freshest produce? There's an app for that: Thanks to an Esplanade resident who alerted us to "Puget Sound Fresh," a cell phone app that will tell you what’s fresh, local and in season, and where to get it. Find farms and farmers' markets based on your location, or search by address. Get information on each farm - contact information, available crops and products, address, farm description and more. The free app is created by Pierce County and the UW Tacoma - available at the app stores for Apple and Google.

  • Book club books for summer: The book club will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 7 in the community room. The book for discussion in July is The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry, by Gabrielle Zevin. Do come whether you've completed the book or not. Wine and snacks are also on the agenda; feel free to bring something to share if you like. The book for August is Paul Theroux's Deep South.

  • "Shoot the T" photo contest: Unfortunately we missed the deadline for voting this year, but the annual "Shoot the T" photo contest wrapped up this weekend. Winners are scheduled to be announced on Monday, June 26. To view all of the photos of Tacoma (many of them in the vicinity of The Esplanade) click HERE.
