News and notes for this week

Several items of news and note for this week:

• Guest speaker on homeless issues this Tuesday: The Social Committee is starting a series of "Esplanade Speaker Forums." These are not decision-making forums, but invited guest speakers.
• The first guest speaker will be on Tuesday, 10/25 at 7:00 p.m. Speaker: Allyson Griffith from Community Based Services. Topic: "Homelessness in Tacoma."
• The second guest speaker will be on Tuesday, 11/9 at 7:00 p.m. Speaker: Kevin Glackin-Coley from St. Leo's Food Bank.

• Water shut-off on Wednesday: Last week's boiler repair was not completed. It has been rescheduled for this coming Wednesday, October 26th. All water will be shut off from 8:00 am - 11:30 am.

• Do you want to use the Community Room on Thanksgiving? A drawing will be held October 28th at 12:00 p.m. for a chance to win exclusive use of the Community Room on Thanksgiving Day, 2016. In the past, we have not reserved the room for any one individual, but this year it was decided to open it up to a drawing. In November there will also be a drawing for Christmas Day as well. If you would like to enter the drawing please come to the office to enter, sometime before Friday, October 28. The normal rules for use of the room still apply - a damage deposit is still required, and a fee may be required based on the number of guests.
